![]() But on Windows I use WinMerge, on Linux Meld (which is also available for Mac), currently using twdiff, I already tried FileMerge.app, and going to try DiffMerge. Plugins are not included by default when you install WinMerge, you have to select them during installation to get them installed. For example, you can use a plugin to extract text data from MS Word files for WinMerge to compare. WinMerge plugins are custom dlls or scriptlets, written in the COM API, that preprocess data before a comparison. All of them provide 3-way comparison, which gives them a big advantage against WinMerge. There are many file comparing tools, like Beyond Compare (freeware for Windows and Linux), Meld (open-source application for Mac, Linux and Windows) and kdiff3 (open-source for Linux and Windows). I have a few hundred files that I need to compare and it's not practical to have to open the files and manually and save the report. WinMerge can be used as an external differencing/merging tool or as a standalone application.I need a diff tool that has a command line option to create and save a diff report that looks easy to read, something like the html report produced by WinMerge. ![]() WinMerge is highly useful for determining what has changed between project versions, and then merging changes between versions. WinMerge can compare both folders and files, presenting differences in a visual text format that is easy to understand and handle. WinMerge is an Open Source differencing and merging tool for Windows.
